"The people I met were warm, inspiring individuals."

I joined Nightline in my first year of university, having grown very aware that year of the scale of the challenges faced by students, and thus the need for strong support services. As a platform that allows students to help and support their fellow students, I saw Nightline to be a fantastic opportunity.

As a result, I enjoyed three thoroughly rewarding years with the service, and felt very proud to be a Nightliner. The people I met were warm, inspiring individuals, I developed a range of very valuable skills and knew that I had helped other students through my actions. It was a great community to be a part of, and I was very thankful for that chance.

For me personally, where Nightline held its greatest value was as the perfect springboard for other endeavours. It led me to become more involved with student welfare on both a local and a national level, as well as develop my own student-led initiatives in time. My experiences with Nightline provided me with the confidence, knowledge, connections and skills to go about this. For that I will always be grateful, and hope to always be able to support the service in some fashion.

Nightline provides the potential to change the lives of both the caller and the volunteer listener, both for the better. Students do need, and always will have need for, a Nightline service at the other end of the phone.
